Welcome to Seneca, Kansas

Seneca, Kansas (pop. 1,991) is our featured rural community this week! Their thriving main street, rich history, and community events are just a few of the many great things to love about Seneca. We'll be sharing stories throughout the week from local leaders and business owners who are making an impact here. Today's guest blog post is from Seneca Area Chamber & Downtown Impact Executive Director Kylee Luckeroth.

I would like to welcome you to Seneca, Kansas - home to four museums, 13 locally owned restaurants, our 18-hole Spring Creek Golf Course, the widest hand-dug well in the state of Kansas, and just over 2,000 wonderful Kansans. Additionally, we have many one of a kind shops along our historically registered Main Street, and all over town, that offer unique shopping, friendly interactions, and a small town charm you won't soon forget.

Seneca is the perfect combination of the past and the present. One of the first stops on the western-bound Pony Express and an early railroad town, Seneca was incorporated in 1870. Walking down our brick Main Street, you will experience Seneca's historic walking tour, and learn all that formed Seneca into the lovely small town you see today. The city itself is alive with community spirit, and family friendly activities, we offer many yearly events including the Nemaha County Free Fair, Cruise Night, our Ladies Night Out event, and Santa Claus coming to town - something for all ages! Many of Seneca's recreation opportunities offer larger city amenities in our small town including youth athletics, the modern aquatic park, disc golf course, and outdoor music garden at the local library.

Someone once said "If you've seen one small town, you've seen one small town." One of the biggest things that make all small town's unique are their people, and in Seneca we are no exception. We have many kind, generous, and caring people in our community. As a Seneca native, I am proud to call this town my home, and I feel lucky that my job is to promote this awesome place.

Seneca is a great place to explore, and take a walk through history, not to mention a wonderful place to live, raise a family, and grow a business! So whether you are coming for a day trip, the weekend, or the rest of your life - Seneca is waiting for you!
