Episode 99 // Greg Roskos and Rob Grover of Winghaven Pizza Farm
This week on the podcast we’re with Greg Roskos and Rob Grover of Winghaven Pizza Farm in Galesville, Wisconsin (pop. 1,481). Greg, who grew up always in the kitchen, and Rob, who was looking for a way to bring a new kind of business to his family farm, put their entrepreneurial minds together and created Winghaven Pizza Farm, where you’ll find stone-fired pizzas, local beer and wine, and live music — all on the family farm. We’re talking about the importance of supporting local businesses in our rural communities, what it means to have a seasonal business, and creating a new experience for this fifth generation family farm.
You'll love Greg and Rob’s heart for their community and supporting the locals, and how they keep growing and expanding this business. Plus, this concept for a new kind of business and experience built around the family farm. Be sure to check out the show notes and make plans to visit Winghaven Pizza Farm soon!
Food really has been a passion all my life. I love cooking for people, I love the camaraderie and the conversations that happen around food. And so the idea of being able to design recipes and to put together a menu that could really speak to everybody in some way and then provide an environment where people could enjoy some of those times and feelings around meals that I had when I was younger.
— Greg Roskos
There are challenges unique to a rural area, but incredible opportunities to try something new.
— Rob Grover
We might not grow everything right on our farm, but as a small business ourselves, with Greg and I both growing up on farms and being passionate about small businesses, we wanted to focus as much as we could on supporting other local businesses as much as possible.
— Rob Grover
