Episode 114 // Jasmin Stidham of Stidham Outfitters

We’re just an itty bitty shop in a two stoplight town.

— Jasmin Stidham

On today’s podcast we’re with Jasmin Stidham of Stidham Outfitters in Johnson City, Texas (pop. 1,656). Stidham Outfitters started in 2014 when Jasmin and her husband Seth opened a brick and mortar to sell home goods, gifts and apparel — including Seth’s handmade leather goods. Jasmin shares about the importance of building relationships, their focus on quality, American-made products, and creating a unique experience for their customers. We also talk about how their business has evolved over the years and how they’re now shifting their focus to better fit their passions.

Something that will impress you about this interview is how Jasmin and Seth are taking the risk to shift their business and embrace change. We’re so excited about what’s ahead for these two, and they’re going to be sharing more and more with you about what’s to come over the next weeks and months, so be sure to go give them a follow!

Life is short, so we have always embraced change and have always looked forward to the next adventure

This change, this transition was really based on us recognizing this kind of snowball effect that we had kind of created in the store was maybe not our passion. It was doing well, it was performing well, but were we in love with it? Was it the brand we wanted and the direction we wanted to go?

There are far too many small towns with boarded up, darling buildings that just sit vacant. And whether you can work with your local community or economic development group to open the doors and dust off the old shelves and just do a pop up or something, that would get people thinking about what main street businesses might look like and how big of an impact it truly has on a small community.
