Pivotal Health & Wellness: A Non-Traditional Concept Succeeding in a Traditional Field

As you walk down the streets in Courtland, Kansas today you will see a sight that is unfamiliar to a lot of small rural towns in Kansas. Instead of empty, run down buildings that are just memories of businesses of the past you will see a vibrant main street. Buildings being remodeled, rebranded, and new memories being made.

What is needed more in a thriving small town than healthcare, especially in rural America? Talk to most people in North Central Kansas and the average drive to seek healthcare services is 30+ miles. With populations aging and pandemics taking center stage, bringing BIG city resources to small towns is just what Pivotal Health & Wellness is doing.

On July 19 a group of “hometown kids” (including founder Bethany Wallin and partner Robin Carlson) got together and discussed how a vision of theirs, and a more recent vision of Wallin’s, could become reality. How can we provide health and wellness services, home health services, and a resource center locally in Courtland and sustain it?

Pivotal Health and Wellness is meeting this need by offering preventive care in the form of a community gym where pre/op, post/op, strengthening, and maintenance needs can be met. Their services include a resource center that assists the community in navigating the ever-changing healthcare system. They do this by working with your medical team in everything from assisting with clinical post-hospital/post-illness needs, financial needs, obtaining insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. Pivotal Health can also assist you in locating medical equipment and getting referrals to specialists for patient specific. The Pivotal Moment is our educational series that helps educate the community on healthcare resources that are already available.

Pivotal Health & Wellness, led by Wallin and Carlson, is winning the race in helping rural communities have improved access to health-related services, resources, and education.
